Elongated Coins

Elongated Coins are all kinds of coins, that are placed in a machine, and the machine elongates the coin and puts a print on it. The most common elongated coin are pennies, but you can find quarters and nickels, but they aren't as common. To make an elongated coin, you first have to find a place where a machine is located. Usually you can find them on top of towers and large buildings. Also in zoos and at rest stops on major highways like the New Jersey Turnpike. Once you have found one, you first turn the crank until you select the print you want. Most machines you can select the one you want, but machines that only have one print are automatic. Then place two quarters and a penny on the slot and slide it in to the machine. Turn the crank a couple times and out comes your elongated penny. 51 cents is kind of over priced just to crush a penny, but it is fun to make them and collect them. The first elongated coin ever produced is a penny with the picture of the Ten Commandments on it. This coin was first made at the Chicago World's Fair in 1933. To see a picture of this coin, and other specialty coins I have click here: Specialty Coins. I started colllecting elongated coins in 1994, and now have 54 pennies, 2 quarters, and 1 nickel.
